As part of our commitment to strengthening Turner’s capabilities and delivering exceptional value to our clients, we are pleased to share an important strategic development in our Self-Perform Operations (SPO).
Self-perform is more than a service offering—it is a defining element of our identity as builders. By expanding the company’s direct work capabilities, we deepen our technical expertise and advance key company goals, including workforce development, lean implementation, offsite construction and enhanced operational safety, quality and efficiency.
Turner’s Self-Perform Operations are led by Matt Papenfus, Managing Director, and Shannon Hines, Senior Vice President. Under their leadership, we are advancing a companywide strategy to grow our self-perform capabilities and offer enhanced development opportunities for our 4,000 skilled craft professionals.
To help lead this effort at the local level, we are proud to announce the promotion of five leaders to the role of SPO Executive.

Each SPO Executive brings deep expertise and a strong track record of operational excellence that will help us accelerate growth and expand our direct work capabilities. With their leadership, every project will reflect Turner’s highest standards of safety, quality and innovation—and our people will continue to thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment. The SPO Executives will work in close collaboration with local leaders to:
· Develop and support SPO Managers
· Share best practices and implement standard processes
· Lead business planning and optimize staffing to drive efficiency
· Cultivate a culture of performance, accountability, and excellence in all self-perform efforts

Our Self-Perform Operations are unified around a strategy to:

· Hold consistent expectations and standards for our skilled craft colleagues
· Value, develop, and appreciate our craft workforce
Our Self-Perform Operations includes several very experienced leaders who work closely with all our SPO Managers across the company.
· Brendan McCormick - focused on mega projects across the company,
· Joe Botto - focused on mega concrete work across the company,
· Sean Tierney - focused on standardizing overall SPO operations,
· Patrick Coughlin - focused on expanding and standardizing concrete operations,
· Vincent Rossi - focused on expanding and standardizing drywall operations,
· Ben Kantor - focused on expanding and standardizing On-site/Off site equipment Rental Programs,
· Josh Ehlers - focused on developing and implementing our overall company shop rental strategy.
