Turner Construction Company Foundation Announces Partnership with Foster Care to Success

The Foundation aims to support foster youth entering the construction industry

The Turner Construction Company Foundation has announced Foster Care to Success (FC2S), the largest and oldest national non-profit organization working with college-bound foster youth, as its first charity partner. 

Since 1981, FC2S has helped youth who have experienced foster care attend college with financial assistance, career advising, and life skills coaching. 

FC2S has surveyed nearly 6,500 foster youth who enrolled in academic college courses, 58% said they were interested in learning about education and training courses that lead directly to in-demand, stable employment. 

FC2S has consistently recognized that there are multiple pathways to adulthood, self-sufficiency, and employment. Academic college is suitable for many, but not for all. In August 2024, FC2S is launching Community Now, a designated fund to help young people learn about careers, skills needed in today’s construction workforce, and certifications. 

“We are confident that Community Now’s emphasis on certificates, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training will complement our more traditional college scholarship program,” said Eileen McCaffrey, Executive Director of FC2S “We are committed to helping young people enter the workforce and build a different future from their childhood experiences.” 

The Foundation is proud to work with FC2S in their Community Now initiative to increase awareness and promote careers in the building trades. As aligned with Turner Construction Company’s Core Purpose, the Foundation supports charitable organizations that positively impact people and the communities in which we build and sustain the future of the construction workforce.
