Collaboration and Innovation at Union College's Integrated Science and Engineering Complex

The Union College Integrated Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) houses laboratories, classrooms, collaborative learning spaces for students and faculty, and faculty offices. The facility emphasizes collaborative workspaces and creates areas for "science on display", where labs and other research spaces can be viewed through large glass windows. The project included renovations, demolitions and the replacement of a quad. The building's centerpiece, a four-story light well, promotes visibility and connectedness among disciplines. New outdoor walkways, seating areas and expanded green space improve foot traffic significantly within the science and engineering complex and enhance the campus grounds. The project was constructed in multiple phases in order to eliminate potential impacts to campus activities throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, Turner provided services for the tower renovations to home the mechanical and physics departments. Towers include faculty offices, break out/study areas and conference rooms.
