Turner Construction provided preconstruction and construction services on Phase II of the University of Georgia’s 101,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art Interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (I-STEM) Research Building. This space provides students a learening environment for collaborative interactions and innovations.
The three-story structure, with a penthouse on top, was constructed atop a portion of an existing 320-vehicle parking deck and is connected to the university’s iSTEM Phase I Building. Shared by the College of Engineering and the Department of Chemistry, the building features three levels of flexible, open lab space, supporting collaborative interactions and innovations in chemistry, engineering, and other STEM disciplines. Other building features include research workspaces for dozens of faculty and graduate students in the STEM field, an 88-seat tiered classroom, and a micro-mart.
