A Revolutionary, State-of-the-Art Medical Campus

The Denver VA Medical Center campus consists of twelve (12) buildings, totaling approximately 2,200,000 sq. ft., including 1,100,000 sq. ft. of buildings, a 72,000 sq. ft. Central Utility Plant (CUP), 900,000 sq. ft. of parking garages, a perimeter security fence, and guard house facilities at campus entry points. The new hospital is one large, open concourse with nine (9) attached buildings. With 138 inpatient rooms, a majority of the rooms are single occupancy to provide patients with privacy and control. Expanded services at the new hospital include mammography, PET scan capabilities, and a rehabilitation pool and gym. There is also a specialty spinal cord injury unit with its own rehabilitation center, exercise rooms, therapy courtyard, and cafeteria. This VA spinal cord injury clinic is the only one west of the Mississippi River and offers expanded telehealth, polytrauma, and traumatic brain injury programs. The new hospital includes diagnostic and treatment facilities, ambulatory care clinics, research laboratories, support facilities, and inpatient beds in acute care, critical care, mental health, and rehabilitation.
