The new 30,000-sq. ft., steel-structure building was constructed on an elevated concrete deck and serves as the new control facility for the Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority’s glycol management program. Two key elements of the project are the control tower, which includes 30-degree angled windows for a full 360-degree view to control all de-icing activity, and a 10-ton bridge crane, which is 26-ft. wide. The project’s scope also included site preparation and drainage, water main drainage, sanitary sewer, concrete, and asphalt paving. Upon completion, this facility became the largest glycol control facility in the U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg attended the facility’s grand opening ceremony in November 2022.
