Turner completed a 7-story, 150-bed seismically resilient expansion to the existing Patient Care Tower and provided a seismic upgrade to the adjacent garage.
The project adds 150 inpatient beds, new diagnostic and treatment service areas, outpatient and retail services and a chapel. The addition replaced the existing emergency department and improved access to the drop-off area and lobby. The entire project remained focused on the user experience, centering on efficiency and function.
The expansion was also completed without any interruption to life flight, ED services, major facilities interruptions or impact to adjacent patient care. Tie-ins to the existing Patient Care Tower occurred over 47 phases of contained work to avoid operational impact.
Turner has been working for Salem Health since 2003 when we began working on a new central energy plant and a new seven-story, 450,000 sq. ft. patient care tower. Since then, we’ve remained on campus and have completed 200+ projects with the range of scope varying from roof repairs to ground-up buildings. This long partnership has been built on trust, transparency, and collaboration.
