The Terranea Resort project included construction of 34 buildings over 102 acres, including a 360-room luxury hotel and conference center, 13 casitas, 10 villas, five bungalows and related public facilities. The Terranea grounds also include multiple restaurants, bars, courtyards, and three ocean-view swimming pools. In support of the hotel, the Spa at Terranea is a 20,000 sq. ft. facility that includes multiple treatment rooms, a fitness center, a swimming pool, outdoor relaxation spaces and a café. All buildings were constructed simultaneously with the installation of the associated infrastructure, including utilities and street improvements, as well as the landscape, hardscape and water features that enhance the resort experience.
The project was constructed on a parcel of land in Los Angeles County on the Palos Verdes peninsula that includes over a mile of coastline. In some cases, the buildings are within 50-feet of a 150-foot cliff abutting the Pacific Ocean. It was our project team’s responsibility to preserve the California coastline and native habitat zones. Planning for all construction aspects to maintain the construction schedule and implement preventative measures were put into place at the beginning of the project.
