The Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world. At 182 meters tall the Statue of Unity in India stands at around two times the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
At a full height of 240 meters tall including the pedestal, the Statue of Unity surpasses the world’s second-tallest statue by more than 80 meters.
Turner Managed the entirety of the project which beyond the statue itself included an exhibition hall at the statue base, a memorial garden, a memorial and visitor building, a bridge connecting the mainland and the island, 5.88 kilometers of highway connecting the statue site to the town of Kevadia, and a hotel and convention center with visitor parking and docking facility in the state of Gujarat.
Shaped in his image, the statue and museum below are dedicated to the life and work of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a prominent statesman and social leader best known for his role in India's struggle for independence and the state-building effort that followed.
Patel is often referred to as the 'Iron Man of India’ and is credited with uniting more than 565 princely states within the country after it achieved independence from British rule. The statue’s chest houses an observation deck with a capacity for 200 people.
