Terminal C and Airfield Reconfiguration Project

On behalf of Delta Air Lines, Inc., Turner is providing construction management services for the renovation of Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, NY. The project includes the demolition of existing Terminals C and D and parking lots P4 and P5. It replaces them with a new terminal head house, four concourses, associated airfield improvements, and an expansion to the existing East garage. The new airfield layout will include the flexibility to accommodate thirty-seven (37) contact gates comprised of a fleet mix that includes up to twenty-seven (27) B737-900W and ten (10) B757-200W aircraft.

The design of the New Terminal C will be consistent with the overall modernization of LaGuardia Airport. The concourses will consist of two and three-story steel structures, while the terminal head house will be four stories, housing all the departures and arrivals processing functions. The overall facades will be a combination of metal panels, glass ribbon windows, and curtain wall systems at the head house and levels 2 and 3 of the concourses. Level 1 of the concourses will have a split-face CMU facade. The roof system shall comply with appropriate building and energy codes while considering glare and reflectivity.

The Turner team worked in conjunction with Daifuku Webb, who installed a fully functional baggage handling system in multiple phases throughout the project schedule. In addition to phasing the project, the team coordinated all of its activities with numerous federal agencies to ensure 100% compliance.
