Bringing Hope and Water

Bringing Hope and Water

In a heartwarming display of dedication and compassion, the Vietnam team embarked on a significant charity mission aimed to bring much-needed relief to the ethnic minority people residing in Sùng Trái Commune, Đồng Văn District, Hà Giang Province. The team donated water tanks and gifts, making a tangible difference in the lives of the local community.

The charity mission

The charity mission commenced on May 10, with the team embarking on a five-hour journey to reach Sùng Trái Commune. This challenging trip highlighted the team's commitment to helping those in need and their dedication to making a positive impact on the community. The following day, the team spent a full day in Sùng Trái Commune, engaging with the villagers and distributing the donated items. The event was not just about giving gifts but also about spending quality time with the community, understanding their challenges, and sharing moments of joy and hope. The donation included 40 water tanks and various gifts aimed at improving the daily lives of the residents.

The Stone Plateau: A Land of Challenges

The Stone Plateau, located in the north of Hà Giang Province, spans four districts: Đồng Văn, Mèo Vạc, Yên Minh, and Quản Bạ. This region is characterized by its rugged limestone mountains, which pose significant challenges for its inhabitants. The area is home to nearly 20 ethnic groups, including the Hmong, Tay, Dao, and Pu Peo. With more than three-quarters of the area covered in rocky terrain, the dry season stretches from September to April, leaving the community with limited water sources. Due to the lack of rivers and streams, agricultural production and daily activities rely heavily on rainwater. During the dry season, residents spend 3-4 hours daily climbing hills and mountains to fetch water from small, distant water holes. These treacherous paths, only wide enough for one person, highlight the harsh realities faced by the community. Understanding these challenges, the team organized the donation of water tanks and gifts to the community. These water tanks will significantly ease the burden of water collection, allowing families to store water for daily use. This initiative not only saves labor and time, enabling villagers to focus on increasing production and improving their livelihoods, but it also warms their hearts and lifts their spirits.

I am incredibly proud of our team's dedication and compassion. Our mission to Sùng Trái Commune reflects our commitment to making a positive change in the communities we serve. By providing these essential water tanks and spending time with the villagers, we hope to bring hope and a better quality of life to the people of the Stone Plateau.
