MetroHealth System’s The Glick Center Recognized for Outstanding Innovation and Collaboration

The Vista Award from the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) recognizes project teams that work together to develop and maintain exceptional health care environments while demonstrating effective communication and relying on data-based decision-making processes.

MetroHealth System’s The Glick Center, a cornerstone of MetroHealth’s decade-long campus transformation, has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Vista Award for New Construction by the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE).

The Glick Center, a 386-bed, 11-story hospital, was brought to life through the collective expertise of Turner Construction Company and HGA. Employing lean methodologies, evidence-based design, and data-driven planning, the team successfully realized MetroHealth’s ambitious vision. The result is a process-neutral facility, designed for adaptability to meet evolving health care needs over time.

The Glick Center anchors a decade-long campus transformation for MetroHealth, a public hospital and academic medical center in Cleveland, and Ohio’s sole adult and pediatric trauma and burn center. Working within a firm budget financed through public bonds, MetroHealth delivered a state-of-the-art facility that modernizes care and uplifts the surrounding community.  Various aspects of the project align with MetroHealth’s commitment to community well-being, including aiding in the establishment of the Latino Construction program and interior and exterior design elements that reflect the local culture and topography.

“We are incredibly proud to have partnered with MetroHealth on The Glick Center, a project that exemplifies innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to improving patient care,” said Randy Keiser, Senior Vice President, Turner Construction Company. “Receiving the Vista Award from ASHE is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. This recognition underscores the impact of thoughtful design and construction in creating healing environments that serve communities for generations to come.”

“Modern health care demands environments that are conducive to healing, privacy, and patient comfort, which the old facilities could not adequately provide,” says Chuck Kostrab, Vice President and Senior Regional Operations Manager. “The new hospital integrates state-of-the-art medical technology and infrastructure to support advanced medical procedures and treatments.”

The award recognizes outstanding teamwork, innovation, and excellence in health care design and construction. Presented annually by ASHE, a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Vista Awards celebrate project teams that create exceptional health care environments through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and effective communication.

The Glick Center’s recognition with the 2025 Vista Award highlights its role as a model for modern health care infrastructure, reinforcing MetroHealth’s mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to the Cleveland community.
