Become a SubcontractorTurner hosted its Ninth Innovation Summit, a three-day event that took place from November 12-14, 2024. This year’s theme, “Expanding Horizons: Exploring Beyond What Is to What Could Be,” explored transformative trends shaping the industry, from artificial intelligence and digital transformation to climate tech and sustainable infrastructure.
The 2024 Turner Summit gathered more than 300 participants and featured presentations by leading thinkers and industry experts who shared how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are reshaping business operations and amplifying human potential across the construction industry. Through a series of interactive sessions, participants exchanged insights and collaborated on strategies to help Turner scale innovations, enhance efficiency, and deliver long-term value to clients.
The event showcased Turner’s use of generative AI. Teams from across the company demonstrated how advanced AI tools are driving improvements and productivity gains. Early results were presented from Turner’s 2024 Artificial Intelligence hackathon, which was held in October in collaboration with experts from Design Sprint Academy, AI Academy, and OpenAI. The hackathon spurred the development of AI tools aimed at enhancing safety in Turner’s field operations.
Guest speakers included Adam Goldberg from OpenAI, AI expert and NYT bestselling author Ethan Mollick, serial entrepreneur Josh Linkner, futurist & urbanist Greg Lindsay, Courtney Scharf from Trend Hunter, Fifth Wall’s Partner and Co-Head of Climate Tech Greg Smithies, Meta’s Area Director of Data Center Construction Tory Sigler, and Karan Girotra, a founding member of Cornell Tech.
The Summit brought together participants from the ACS Group’s global network of companies. Employees from ACS Group, HOCHTIEF, CIMIC Group, Flatiron-Dragados, ACS Infrastructure, and Iridium participated in an Innovation Showcase. This unique forum highlighted pioneering projects and ideas from across the ACS Group’s global operations. Speakers Franziska Mueller, Claudelle Taylor, Luis M. Viartola, Nuria Haltiwanger, and Alicia Lopez delivered rapid-fire sessions on transformative projects, spanning resilient infrastructure, urban mobility, and autonomous transit solutions—showcasing how the ACS Group is laying the groundwork for the cities and communities of tomorrow.
