Creating a Living Museum

As part of a major expansion in the Aquarium of Niagara's 57-year history, general contracting services were provided to create a dynamic living museum that highlights the wildlife of the Niagara River and Great Lakes ecosystems. The project brought together Turner Construction Company and the New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation to revitalize the 5,000-square-foot Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, just 500 feet from the Aquarium's main facility.

This initiative was designed to enhance the visitor experience by integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, taking advantage of the Aquarium's proximity to Niagara Falls. The renovation of the Discovery Center included the addition of 15 new exhibits featuring native turtles, amphibians, insects, and fish, reflecting Turner's commitment to delivering impactful, community-focused projects.
