Turner and its Joint Venture partners completed construction management services for this 400,000 sq. ft. renovation that included two levels of new suites, new upper-deck seating and party space featuring Topgolf simulators. Additionally, substantial structural work allowed the creation of Atlanta Social, a unique premium space for public gatherings. Large video boards were added in each corner, along with a massive center-hung board above the court. Three new premium clubs were built, as well as new restaurants, new concession stands and a barber shop.
The renovation allowed the arena to continue to host home NBA games for the Atlanta Hawks and other events of local, regional, national and international importance, such as arena football, concerts, amateur sports events, and other entertainment and community events. Completed in three phases over two NBA off seasons, the 21,000-seat arena remained open throughout construction, allowing gameday and special event operations to continue. Over 1 million patrons used the facility during the renovation without one single safety incident.
