The University of Georgia's Center for Art & Nature is a two-story 7,000 sq.ft. museum featuring eight different gallery spaces that blend conservation, botanicals, art, beauty and curiosity. The project includes exhibit and gallery space to accommodate permanent and rotating collections, flexible classrooms for educational programs, administrative staff offices, collection storage, and an entry foyer designed to host programs and other hospitality functions.
The center is situated on a sloping site surrounded by terraced gardens offering dramatic views of Georgia's native plants and the beautifully designed visitors' plaza and fountain. In addition, a Discovery and Inspiration Garden surrounds the facility to allow visitors to explore the relationship between art and nature. The garden features a large event lawn to accommodate educational, social, and cultural events.
The facility is located adjacent to the Alice H. Richards Children's Garden, allowing for ease of movement of students between the Children's Garden and the Center for Art and Nature, providing a more extensive palette of educational offerings in one central location.
