Baptist Health Sciences University, College of Medicine

Elevating Critical Medical Education in the Mid-South

To create the new home of Baptist Health Sciences University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, Turner renovated an existing 97,000-sq. ft., two-story building. On the first level, all non-structural walls, ceilings, floor finishes, mechanical systems, and lighting were demolished. A portion of the second level's concrete floor was removed to accommodate a monumental staircase connecting both levels. The new design features high-end interior materials and finishes, elevating the space to inspire excellence in medical education. The COM features a gross anatomy lab, team-based learning space, an osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) lab, flexible classroom space, administrative offices, study rooms, and a dining area. The new College of Osteopathic Medicine will not only provide critical medical education but also focus on understanding the impact of lifestyle and environmental factors on patients’ overall well-being.
