The new 236,000 sq. ft. concourse includes airline and building support spaces; building system spaces; a pet relief area; a mother’s room; vertical circulation and support space; dining and shopping; concession space; office space; restrooms; and other support functions, a baggage handling system system, and other support functions. Also included in the scope is a new two-level connector that is approximately 750 feet in length, which connects the new expansion with the existing Concourse A. The connector contains moving sidewalks and two baggage sortation conveyors. Construction also includes added concrete ramps.
The three-story structure is a hybrid system consisting of a structural, concrete podium with a structural steel mezzanine and roof. The curtainwall facing the street consists of blast-rated curtainwall, high performance concrete, and metal wall panels along with metal solar control devices, membrane and standing seam metal roof, and photovoltaic glass. The project also had an extensive art budget of which three interconnected art installations by Refik Anadol can be seen that display real-time CLT operational data in abstract form.
