University of Pennsylvania Penn Park

Connecting Center City to University City

Conceived of as a vast green space that would re-purpose an old industrial site and draw together University City and Center City residents, Penn Park provides a vital link between two areas that are engines of commerce, research, education, and healthcare.

Turner was selected to develop this 24-acre recreation space, which includes two artificial turf fields, (one of which is housed under an enclosure for all-weather use), a natural turf field, an artificial turf softball field, a 12-court tennis facility, two volleyball courts, and passive recreation spaces for public gathering, picnicking, and barbecuing. Also included are two pedestrian bridges to provide access to the park from Walnut Street to the north and from the stadium/Palestra sports complex to the west.
