Polk County Data Center, Buildings 1 & 2

Data Center Central

Buildings 1 and 2 of the Polk County Data Center are the first of eight data halls for the new campus in Central Iowa. This project is adjacent to the Altoona Data Center Campus, also completed by Turner. The facility is a two-story “H” structure with data halls, electrical rooms, water treatment rooms on the ground floor, and a full penthouse on the second floor. An administrative space connects the two data halls with a unique two-story office layout. 

The administrative spaces have full offices, a kitchen, loading docks, conference rooms, and lounge spaces for the facility operations team. The Polk County Data Center project has a strong focus on prefabrication processes and assemblies, and was designed to be a LEED Gold facility. Since arriving in Altoona, this confidential client has partnered with Turner to help local people acquire the skills they need for jobs that will help build the infrastructure of Iowa’s future. The client has supported community programs to recruit new people to the skilled trades industry and help grow the surrounding communities.
