The new building, spanning over 62,500 sq. ft., was specifically constructed to accommodate specialized class lab spaces for various science-related programs, including anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, engineering science, and physics. In addition, the facility features shared spaces, such as a café, lounge, study room, and tutoring center, for the benefit of students and faculty alike. The building, which spans two stories, is constructed using a steel frame and features an exterior design that includes a combination of limestone veneer, store fronts, curtain walls, and aluminum panels. The design was strategically planned to create center gathering areas, complete with elevated clerestory windows that allow natural light to flow through the corridors. The project was completed with energy efficiency in mind, utilizing mechanical and electrical design efficiencies resulting from energy modeling analysis. As a testament to its environmentally-friendly design, the project has been certified with LEED® Gold certification.
