A new 250,000 sq. ft. research lab building

Turner provided preconstruction and construction agency management services for a new 250,000 sq. ft. facility that contains research and educational spaces. It includes vibration and noise-controlled research labs in the basement to support work in atomic, molecular, and optical physics; condensed matter physics; and photonics. The building features 17 teaching laboratories that support flexible small group classrooms and large lecture rooms which can be subdivided via motorized folding partitions. The upper floors contain flexible laboratory space designed to accommodate both wet and dry research labs including class 100 and 1000 clean room labs. Architecturally, the building also features a two-story atrium with a large glass curtainwall system, located on the first floor, promoting integration between the interior activities and exterior activities at the southern open landscaped space adjacent to the building. This facility is LEED Gold Certified.
