NSDA Architects
Heather Place is a rental housing complex owned by the Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation, on a 2-acre site. The renewal of Heather Place replaces 86 aging housing units with a socially and environmentally sustainable rental community with units for a diverse mix of families, seniors, couples, urban singles and people with disabilities across a mixed range of incomes. Heather Place is part of a larger redevelopment of three buildings. This project includes the LEED® Gold construction of 67 residential rental units including one level of underground parking, a play court, office space, a lounge and civil work off-site in the adjacent lane-way for BC Hydro. The allotted green space consists of walkways, benches, two children’s play areas, and a large shared outdoor patio with BBQ. Mature trees will be preserved, and new trees will added to enhance the landscaping. The 56,955 sq. ft. building is a cast-in-place concrete structure, with fiberglass windows, a combination of metal, cement, brick veneer as well as exposed architectural concrete.
