Construction Ready Program

This 8-week program is based on the Turner School of Construction Management (TSCM), the Russell Educational Academy for Diversity and Inclusion Program (R.E.A.D.I.), and the Urban League’s dedication to investing in the economic success of African American entrepreneurs. Combining these resources has helped Minority Business Enterprises develop strategic business relationships in the construction industry. Seventeen firms graduated from the program, and 10 successfully obtained minority certifications with the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council.

“One thing I like most about the class is how everyone involved wants to see you and your business grow,” said Archie Lewis, a student of Extraordinary Walls and Interiors. “I like how in-depth each class was. While each instructor was teaching I was thinking about how I can apply what they are teaching to my business.”

Guest instructors included Microsoft and the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) offering their expertise to the students. Each emphasizes the current focus on the utilization of diverse businesses on upcoming construction projects.

Turner Atlanta is the 2022 recipient of the GMSDC Crystal Award for the Construction Ready Program. The award is presented to a corporate or government member-partner that publicly demonstrates commitments to minority business development through their programs, corporate spending, and aggressive procurement opportunities!
