Team members from the Turner-Kiewit Joint Venture at the Orlando International Airport in Florida recently celebrated a major milestone at the South Terminal C project — the raising of “The Prow."
As the project’s signature architectural element, The Prow is a 66,000-pound cantilevered radius “eyebrow” which extends more than 50 feet above the project’s multi-level access bridge below.
“This is a major milestone for the project that occurred just 450 days after the start of steel erection,” said Turner’s Project Superintendent, Michael Zipse. “This milestone is truly a representation of the Turner-Kiewit team’s dedication and focus."
Raising The Prow into place also marked the project at 60 percent complete. The all-new South Terminal is currently scheduled to open in February 2022.
