Turner and Davis & Associates forged a relationship more than 20 years ago when Gary Davis participated in the Indiana Turner School of Construction Management for minority and women business owners. That relationship led to Davis & Associates serving as the general trade’s contractor on the Franklin School Apartments project, providing interior demolition services, as well as services to install structural columns in the old gymnasium space and new concrete sidewalks.
Davis & Associates was recognized with Turner’s Subcontractor of the Year Award in 2003 for their exceptional performance on this project that converted an old public school into affordable housing for seniors.
Davis’ experience with Turner grew from this smaller-scale project into a $3 million general trade package for the 350,000-SF IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. The success of these two projects led Turner and Davis to pursue projects together as either a joint-venture or associate partners. Their first success was a 50/50 joint venture to revitalize the abandoned Georgetown Apartments for the Indianapolis Housing Agency.
That project was quickly followed by an Associate Partnership on the renovation of Mackey Arena at Purdue University, and an introduction to Turner’s Atlanta office where the partnership was awarded an on-call contract with the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Today the firms have partnered on more than $700 million in construction work, over 15 different projects.
