Iconic toy retailer FAO Schwarz tasked Turner with the relocation and fit-out of its flagship at 30 Rockefeller Center. The 20,000 sq. ft. multi-floor boutique store features custom millwork including a “starry night” ceiling and an ornamental glass staircase installed around and through a 26-foot-tall Clock Tower.
Located in one of New York’s busiest areas, the team coordinated activities with specialty vendors and the building to meet the compressed 4-month schedule. To safeguard the installation of iconic fixtures, including the 20’ long “Big” piano, the team performed extensive site surveys to compensate for incongruous field conditions, such as ceiling heights. In addition, the fabrication of custom long lead items such as architectural glass and steel was closely monitored to ensure their precise fit and finish.
