The School of Social Work & Smart Hospital Building at The University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington) is a design-build partnership between SmithGroup and Turner. The new facility combines flexible, state-of-the-art technology-enriched learning spaces, classrooms, teaching and research labs, faculty and staff offices, student engagement dedicated spaces, study areas, and infrastructure support space.

The University is committed to promoting lifelong learning through its academic and continuing education programs and to forming good citizenship through its community service-learning programs. The diverse student body shares a wide range of cultural values, and the University community fosters unity of purpose and cultivates mutual respect.
The School of Social Work & Smart Hospital Building will give UT Arlington the ability to accommodate current and expanding student enrollments which are projected to increase by 2% (Social Work) and 5% (Nursing) per year; hire additional faculty, increase degree production; and increase externally funded research. In addition, a new facility would allow the Nursing Smart Hospital, currently “over-subscribed,” to expand and provide sufficient office and research space as the School of Social Work grows.
